Star Sighting - videos and printables

Here are a few extra materials I've put together for you as you make your own Star Sighting quilt.  The videos below will walk you through how to construct Units B and C with traditional piecing methods.

Are you a fan of foundation paper piecing? Keep scrolling for downloadable/printable templates for Unit B and Unit C if you'd rather paper piece.  Enjoy the make!

Have you seen my "quilting idea guide" for this quilt? If you need some inspiration for the quilting step, I hope this will do the trick.

Foundation Paper Piecing

For those of you who love the precision of foundation paper piecing, here are templates for two of the Star Sighting units, B and C. Please note that the printed block will look backwards.  Since seaming will take place on the back side of the foundation paper, the printed side is a mirror image... don't worry, it will be correct when it's sewn. :)

The following printables are pdf files.  Because sizing is critical with paper piecing, please measure your printout to ensure the block size is 6 inches square, 6.5 inches square including the seam allowances.  If your printer is automatically giving you a smaller printout and you don't have the option of scaling to 100%: save the files to your computer, download Adobe Reader and print from that program.  It's a free online download and will allow you to specify "actual size" or Custom Scale: 100%.

Remember to shorten your stitch length so that the paper will tear away more easily when the time comes.  Speaking of that, don't remove your papers until the seaming is complete and the paper-pieced blocks are sewn into the quilt.
